It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father: Andrew George Bauml who passed peacefully on August 2, 2023.
Andrew is survived by his; daughters, Gayle (Bob) and Glenda (Don); son, Kevin; grandchildren, Travis (Lisa), Justin (Morganne), Tyson, Danielle (Keyln), and Cody; great grandchildren, Aurora, Brynnlie and Connor; sisters, Lillian (Eugene), Sarah and Janet (Ennio); brother Kenny (Pat) and many nieces and nephews. Andrew was predeceased by his parents, Anton and Bertha Bauml (Kalinowsky), brothers, Tony and Donny, sister, Angeline, his loving wife of 62 years, Rose Marie (2019), grandson Jason (2018), and son-in-law Dale (2005).
Andrew was born in Leipzig, Saskatchewan on February 14, 1936. He moved to Vancouver in 1956 and was married to Rose Marie on March 2, 1957. Andrew received his Master of Home-Trade Steamship of under 350 tons gross tonnage or Master of Home-Trade-Tug of any size on July 25, 1966. He was employed by Lafarge Canada, Marine Division as a Captain of a Home-Trade-Tug. He travelled the BC coast and beyond to Alaska, USA and down to Washington, USA. He was revered in his industry and known to be one of the best sea captains on the BC coast.
In 1978, Andrew and Rose purchased acreage in Errington BC, where they built a new home, started farming while Andrew still worked the tugboats and than eventually retired to exclusively farming. Andrew was passionate about his farming and at the peak of their farm success, he and Rose raised 40 Black Angus cattle, 300 meat birds, numerous ducks, and geese. They also had acreage in Coombs BC where they grew additional hay for their livestock. Andrew and Rose were also avid travelers and enjoyed many excursions to Hawaii, Mexico, Las Vegas, and Southern USA.
The family would like to thank Dr. Szachnowska, Dr. Otte, Dr Hunter and all the wonderful staff and volunteers at Oceanside Hospice for their care and support. A private service will be held for the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Andrew officiated by his grandson, Reverend Tyson Rosberg. Flowers are gratefully declined.
