Gone too soon at the age of 67, he filled those years to capacity. A career boilermaker and a skilled and meticulous tradesman, he enjoyed many friendships within the brotherhood of Local #359. Upon his retirement, with still so much to offer, he and like minded boilermakers volunteered with the Industrial Heritage Society and again made new friends.
Barry had experiences, interests, and adventures to numerous to mention from bathtub racing, motorcycle riding, hiking, fishing, prawning - always several projects on the go, he was seldom idle. You could find him taking a time out at his favourite pub "DMB" sharing a pint, a story, and of course a good laugh - again more friends!
But his passion and first love was his cabin a at Head Quarters Bay. This is where he was happiest. Anyone who knew him knew how much it meant to him and the love he had for his friends at "HQ" was immeasurable.
Please remember him for his honour, quick wit, generous kind spirit, and love of the great outdoors. Imagine him sitting at the campfire, the beach or marina with a cold beer, a good cigar,, and of course laughing with his friends.
Barry is survived by his wife, Sandy; son, Jess Cords; daughter, Krista; and proud papa to Pierce and Preston. Also brother to Mike (Bush) and sisters, Bev and Patti (Mac); as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Olive and brother in law, Mike.
At Barry's request there will be no service but rather we will celebrate him in the spring at this favourite place in the world - Head Quarters Bay.
We miss you dearly
Love you deeply
And remember you lovingly.
