Brenda Hunter, 53, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, in Parksville B.C. Brenda was such a bright light in this sometimes-dark world, and she will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. Despite the daunting health related challenges she faced and accepted later in life, her fierce outlook on living never faded, approaching each day like a brilliant ray of sunshine. During her time with us, she made a point to always help anyone however she could, never second-guessing her decision. Anyone who knows Brenda, knows that her family and friends meant everything to her. Her love and commitment to husband Ed was well known.
Brenda’s mother Lynne died when Brenda was the young age of 14 and Brenda’s Auntie Mary became her very willing and loving champion for the balance of her life. She leaves behind her husband Edward (Bragg) of 20 years, a large extended family, including favourite nieces, loving grandchildren, cousins and long-time friends.
Brenda was born in Calgary and attended Lord Beaverbrook High School. She worked very hard always, until poor health caused her to retire. She lived most of her adult life in Langford B.C.
Brenda was one of a kind and since a wee girl, marched to her own drummer. She had a wicked and a little whacky sense of humour. Kindness and caring were her guiding principles.
Brenda always wanted to move near her family in Qualicum Beach and finally, after a long stint in VGH, she moved to Trillium Lodge, where she was cared for by a wonderful team of loving caregivers. We, the family, will be forever grateful. She even managed, with a bit of help from Auntie, to plant a lovely garden and grew peas, strawberries and even a watermelon!
Dance on with joy and abandonment Brendie!
A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held had Rotary House 211 Fern Rd. Qualicum Beach, August 24th, 2025, at 1 pm.
