Family was always an important part of Dan's life.
Dan was born in Swalwell, Alberta and raised in Chase, BC. His work ethic started at the young age of 12 starting with working at a local grocery store. He spoke of many hours spent helping his parents with household chores, yard work, and gardening. In his teenage years of 15 to 17 he was a volunteer ambulance attendant along side his dad as well as helping him in the construction industry.
At 20, he met Shawna and followed her back to Vancouver Island. He had a variety of jobs from logging, computer and electronic sales and repairs to being a logging truck driver including long-haul and flat decks. however, working for highways was the job he enjoyed the most - maintaining road and plowing snow,
Dan's favourite past time was camping and fishing with his family. Most weekends in the summer were spent out Taylor Arm Flats. A pet was always prominent in Dan's life too with a mini hobby farm of goats, chickens, pigs, numerous cats and dogs over the years, as well as a pet racoon.
Over the years, Dan spent many hours looking for "special rocks" and dreamed of finding opals in his home town of Chase. In retirement, Dan could be found at the Quay with his dog Rumor for a visit with friends.
In lieu of flowers those wishing to honour his memory may do so by making a donation in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Dan's honour at a later date.
