

She was born March 8, 1933 in South Shields Tyne & Wear England to Elizabeth Ann and Henry Arthur Henson.
Dorothy is survived and missed by her loving husband Nick (Joseph Valdor Fernando) Blais of 70 years; and her children: Lindy, Carole (Michel), Tony and Julie; grandchildren: Corey(Andrea) and Lindsey (Michael), Charly and Cameron, Cody and Dylan; and great grandchildren Dominic, Maeve and Owen
She loved her time spent in church initially in the Church of England, then other Anglican churches across Canada due to her husband Nick's military career and numerous postings in Europe, then Canada.
Dorothy and Nick married in England in 1954 then lived in Metz, France where two of their 4 children were born. Nick was eventually posted back to Canada where they lived in several different provinces, had two more children and eventually retired in Qualicum Beach.
Dorothy was very involved with Girl Guides of Canada as a leader then Commissioner in Quebec and Ontario; an interest that was continued on with her two eldest daughters and two of her granddaughters.
Dorothy was a dedicated teacher throughout her whole career in England and Canada(Saskatoon, Southern and Northern Ontario and Quebec)
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Eagle Park Health Care Facility whose care and support made her final days more comfortable.
