He was predeceased by his mother Daisy, father Joseph, brother Patrick, and sisters Dorothy and Bernice.
Born in Powell River B.C, he is survived by his nieces Jovanna and Deborah. Nephews Patrick, James (Donna), Patrick E. Son Jason, along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews, and way too many friends to mention.
Growing up he was surrounded by the Catholic church and a believing mother. George was dedicated to his faith throughout his life but the call of the motorcycle life drew him in. He worked in many areas such as forestry, Woodwards, and finally Janitor's Warehouse in Nanaimo.
As riding on his motorcycle was more appealing, he joined the 101 Knights motorcycle band and later in life the Christian Motorcycle Association.
What "Pinky" was well known for was his caring, giving, loving, forgiving, and welcoming personality. His long white beard and hair made him the best Santa Claus and Kris Kringle ever. Not only did he look the part, but he made anyone who sat on his knee feel loved.
Pinky lived the last decades of his life on the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre. He became a huge part of the wildlife centre's inner workings and was loved by all who met or worked with him.
He took a large role in the Manna Homeless Program as a board of director and worked closely with the homeless who again loved him.
Losing Pinky has left a huge void in all the lives of people who knew him. His favourite saying even through the terrible trials of cancer was "Just another day in Paradise". In his closing days on this earth he would say, and looked forward to, "Another Day in Paradise" with his Lord.
There will be a memorial service and reception at Yates funeral home on Saturday, June 7th, at 12:00 pm.
Donations in Memory of Pinky can be made to Manna Homeless Society, Box 389, Errington, BC VOR 1V0
