Gerald (Butch) William Ransom
Passed away peacefully at home March 1, 2024.
Gerry was pre deceased by both his parents, his wife Carol, sisters Shirley, Louise, Florance, Peggy and Sister-In-Law Gloria.
Gerry was survived by his twin sister, Geraldine (Dolly), brother Arthur (Art), three children - Tracey Thompson (Don Lutz husband), Jay Thompson (Rica Thompson wife) and Tami Thompson. Grand daughter Carmela (Felipe Flores husband), four great grand children, Tristan, Avery, Dominic and Presley. Numerous Nieces and nephews and Great nieces and Great nephews.
Also, Gerry had made numerous friends since moving to the island after retiring. Gerry fought a hard battle with his health over the last few years battling kidney disease even going on Dialysis with having a kidney removed in December 2023. Gerry was looking forward to going on the Transplant list so that if he could get a Kidney, he will continue to travel and finish off some of his bucket list.
He was lucky enough to go to Vietnam a few years back with his niece Connie and her husband Dwayne among others, a cruise to Alaska with his sisters and lastly a cruise through the Panama Canal with his friend Linda.
The family wishes to express a very special thank you to all the emergency personnel that helped on March 1, 2024; the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Renal Clinic in Nanaimo and at the Nanaimo Hospital for treating Gerry with utmost compassion, kindness and respect. We would also like to thank the staff at Yates Funeral Service and Major Sergii Kachanov of the Salvation Army for his help with the service on March 15, 2024.
In lieu of Flowers the Family request that you make a donation to the Kidney Foundation of Canada in Gerry’s name or the BC Childrens Hospital.
Forever in all our hearts, Gerry will remain.
