With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Harry Gordon Marshall, known to most as Gord who left us peacefully on January 27th, 2025, at the age of 72. Gord passed away surrounded by the love of his wife Monica and daughters Lauren and Brooklyn, who held his hand as he took his final breath.
Gord lived a life full of adventure, kindness, and dedication to others. He spent much of his life in British Columbia, growing up on the mainland before moving to Vancouver Island. Gord proudly served on the ambulance service in various locations for nearly 40 years, he was deeply respected for his compassion and commitment to helping others.
Beyond his career, Gord had a passion for movement, exploration, and connection. In his younger years, Gord was an avid marathon runner, racing in places such as Florida and Hawaii inspiring friends and his daughters to take up running—some of whom continue to run today in his honor.
Gord’s adventurous spirit took him across many kilometers in his beloved Getaway campervan. When his daughters were young, he and Monica packed up their family and drove to Mexico, where they lived for a year to be closer to Monica’s family. Gord spent several of his last summers in that same campervan driving across Canada with his 5 dogs. Whether traveling the country or simply riding one of his six electric unicycles, Gord embraced life with enthusiasm and joy.
Above all, Gord was a family man. He was the rock of his family—his love, strength, generosity, and guidance shaped the lives of Monica, Lauren, and Brooklyn, who will miss him beyond words. He is also deeply mourned by his sister, Diane, and is reunited in peace with his late siblings, Teddy, Jim, and Clare, and his parents Elizabeth and Charles.
Gord was caring, charismatic, kind, and funny—qualities that made him not only the best father but also a respected and cherished presence in the lives of many. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his love and memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Please join us in celebrating Gord’s life on May 10th, 2025 at Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park.
