Predeceased by her mother Jean, father Robert, and son Gregory. Survived by: sons Gary (Trudy) Crocker and Geoffrey (Courtney Hall) Crocker; grandchildren Kevin, Brianna, Brennen and Rory; brother Douglas (Adeline) Sowden; sister Peggy (David Thomson) Sowden; Nephews Peter (Leanne) Sowden and Shamis Thomson; friends, caregivers and cousins around the world.
Janet was a loving mother who needed family and spent thirty years raising three boys to adulthood. In her middle years, Janet loved playing bridge and ten pin bowling, baking, gardening and doing crosswords. Wherever she was, her laughter was a gift to those around her. She was active in the Greater Vancouver Mining Women’s Association and served as president in 1985 and 1986. In her later years at Cedarview Lodge in North Vancouver, she lived a quiet life watching her movies, reading and being a Lodge volunteer.
A family graveside service will be held on Gabriola Island on August 14, 2017 where she will be buried near her parents. Donations to the BC Lung Association or charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated.
