Joyce May Smith

It is with sadness for our loss and gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of our Mom and Granny, Joyce May Smith. Joyce was born in Shell Lake Saskatchewan on May 15, 1931 to Alice and George Lacey. She grew up on the family farm in Shell Lake and moved to Port Alberni in 1951, where she met and married Jim Smith.

Jim and Joyce were life time active members of the Eastern Star on Vancouver Island and they enjoyed many trips with their Chapters. Joyce loved her garden and had a unique skill in nurturing and growing.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Jim and is survived by her children Ron (Carol), Grant (Barb), Glenn (Marg), Greg (Nathalie). She was proud of her grandchildren Logan, Graham, Devon, Genevieve and Janelle and her great grandchildren Cohen, Livy, Kennedy, Shae and Jordie.

Joyce’s family extends our appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Echo Village in Port Alberni for the kind and compassionate care they provided.

We will celebrate Joyce’s life on May 30th at 11:00 at Dignity Memorial, 1000 Allsbrook Road, Parksville, BC
