

Marilyn passed away October 21st, 2017 at the age of 81. Marilyn was predeceased by her loving husband Doug Slater, Julie Olsen (sister), Walter Prysunka (brother), Daniel Prysunka (father), Rose Prysunka (mother).
She will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by Rick Slater (son), Campbell River BC, Diane Slater (daughter) and Doug Beck, Calgary AB, Bob Slater (son) and Dorrie Wiwcharuk, Calgary AB, Tara Slater (grand daughter), Edmonton AB, Jennifer Slater (grand daughter), Parksville BC, Vera & Mel Bowen (sister), Airdrie AB, Nadia & Eldon Eitzen (sister), Calgary AB, Arne & Carol Prysunka (brother), Kelowna BC, and many cousins, nieces and nephews and other relatives including Orville & Micki Beam, Heather Morris, Daryl (Leigh) & Laura
Marilyn will be missed by many friends including Joyce & Tony Russell, Glenn & Elaine Addie, Madeleine Aldridge, Chris & Joe Bourgeois, Boris & Moira Bodnarchuk, Jim & Coral Bell, Tom & Shirley Beck, George & Rose Clarke, Bob & Pat Dorsett, Bill Elder, Lorna & Stuart Grey, Teresa & Greg Jones, Leigh & Howie Meeker, Ole Olsen, Evelyn Steigmeir, Phyllis & Gerry Schofield, Mack & Merle Taylor, Claudia Wright, Sonya & Walt Yachimec, Maria Klee, Cory Pahl and many others who were loved and treasured by mom and dad.
Marilyn was a life long sports fan, cheering and supporting her beloved Calgary Flames and Stampeders. During her rehab period she eagerly looked forward to the games each evening. Mom was a dedicated passionate elementary school teacher for over 20 years in Calgary and completed her university degree while performing as a fulltime mother. Mom loved her husband Doug completely and supported him through many years of his long battle with cancer. When he passed, while devastated she embraced her independence and enjoyed her friends and family while maintaining the family home in Qualicum. She will be missed.
