October 1953 – June 2025
We are deeply heart-broken to announce, unexpectedly on June 23, 2025, our light was darkened as Rick transcended to the heavens.
We take comfort in knowing, he was welcomed with open arms, by his Mother (Danuta Bancarz-Ciupek),his in-laws, Lillian & Bill Davidson, longtime friend Stan, Uncle Leon, Cousin Gary, and many others.
A phenomenal partner of 41 years to Donna (nee Davidson), a devoted, selfless, loving Dad to Jonathan and Shawn (Olivia). He excelled & loved being a Husband and Father.
Treasured by brother-in-law Ron & Bernadette, sister Barb & Peter, cousin-in-law Christine (Neil & Aunt Helen) & Ralph, Cousin Janette & John, Uncle/big brother to Romeo & Andrea, brother-in-law Al & Kathy.
A dearly loved Uncle to Kaitlin, Dean (Sarah), Christoper (Alessia), Isabella (Sean), Tommy (Lillianna), Melissa (Tony) and Terry.
A friend to many, especially the Walker, Gowing, Matecki, Chlan, McPherson, Santini-Spadafora & Lucas Families.
He is survived by many that are devastated by his departure and will be dearly missed.
Rick was born in Osno, Poland and emigrated to Canada with his mother and sister, when he was 9 years old. He endured obstacles in his early life but always viewed them as learning experiences on how to live a positive, fulfilling life.
His passion for Life was inspiring to anyone that was fortunate to know him. He treated humans and animals, with respect, kindness, love, always willing to assist with his gentle, charismatic spirit.
He loved working in environments where he provided exceptional service to clientele, with conversation & laughter to brighten their day.
He was a man of integrity, compassion, commitment, courage, and spirituality. He was always willing to put his family and loved ones first. There needs to be more Ricks in this world.
Rick cherished our many adventures & travels as a family, then as a couple.
He was accomplished across many diverse interests, and truly believed laughter was great medicine.
A skier, a cyclist, a kayaker, a karate black belt expert, a gardener, a fixer-upper who always puttered working at our homes and helped others whenever needed.
A passionate music lover. A self-taught guitarist who found inspiration in numerous artists. Santana was his all-time favourite, as the spirituality of this music spoke to him.
A builder, a leader and a connector in every step of his life.
In October 2018, we fulfilled our shared dream, to relocate to Vancouver Island in the Parksville Qualicum Beach area, our Paradise.
He was a member of Fung Loy Kok Taoist Tai Chi, Parksville/Coombs and Stoney Creek, ON chapters.
A member of the Nile Creek Hatchery, and past member of the Battlefield-Stoney Creek Optimist Club.
Ricky, Dad, you were one of a kind. Our loss can never be replaced. We Love you Forever.
In respecting Rick’s wishes, cremation has occurred. Celebrations of Life will take place later, in Qualicum Beach, BC and in Stoney Creek, ON.
If desired, in his memory, donate to the Nile Creek Enhancement Society (Nile Creek Enhancement Society | Canadian charity | Charitable Impact), plant a tree, or support a cause close to your heart.
