Richard was born in Vancouver. Always a BC'er, Rick lived in Vancouver and Aldergrove and in Qualicum Beach, on Vancouver Island. He was an amazing athlete, playing high level Litle League Baseball in his youth. Later, as a teenager, he became interested in music, and when his friend, Bernie King wanted to start a band, Rick was all in! It was an R & B band called Rick and the Soul Swingers with Rick as the lead vocalist. They played at Clubs and dances in the lower mainland and their big gig was at the PNE!
In his 20's while working at Sears, his coworker and friend, Bob Fun introduced Rick to golf. The game became a passion for the rest of his life and his full time pursuit once he retired.! He won many tournaments and had lots of holes-in-one. He was a four time Men's Club Champion at Eaglecrest in Qualicum Beach from 2997 - 2010.
Rick worked an as Administrative Manager in the construction industry, overseeing the townsite development at Tumbler Ridge in the early 1980's.
Rick was a consumate gentleman, charismatic, a really sharp dresser and a quiet man, with a wicked sense of humour. Rick is now golfing in the Great Golf Course in the sky and sharing a drink and some laughs at the 19th hole with his best buddies D el Johnston and Bob Sadgrove.
We wish to thank the staff and doctors at BC Cancer, the doctors and staff at Nanaimo Regional Hospital, and particularly heartfeft thanks to Dr Romaine and the staff at Nanaimo Regional Palliative Unit for the compassionate care.
At Rick's request, there will be no service.
