Susan Elizabeth Butler

Susan, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away on March 29, 2026 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Susan was born Dec 17, 1945 to Phroso and John Whipple in Edmonton Alberta. She was loved and cherished by her husband Dave, her daughters Alana and Monica, her son-in-law Brian and her grandchildren Quentin, Maria and Megan.

Susan will be remembered as someone who lived and loved fiercely. Her life’s work, both personal and professional, was spent in service to others. She was a devoted oldest sister to her 6 brothers and sisters. She started her career as a dental hygienist, she moved on to become a family counsellor, and eventually the owner of a family services agency in Parksville. She served the mid-island community for many years and touched countless lives in her career. She was a lover of reading, crafting, animals and collecting rocks.

We are profoundly grateful to the staff at Eagle Park Health Care facility for their care for her and to the outpouring of support from our friends and family.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 24, 2026, at 2pm at Yates Memorial Services in Parksville. In lieu of flowers, please extend kindness to a member of your community in her memory.
