

Virginia Ann Cook
With loving family by her side Virginia passed away at the Ty Watson House after a courageous battle with cancer.
Virginia was born in Dryden Ontario and spent some time in Winnipeg, Manitoba when her children were young and then moved to Port Alberni B.C; where she resided for 40 years.
Predeceased by her husband Gordon Cook, parents Paul and Catherine Meawasige, and siblings Paul Meawasige, Raymond Meawasige, Rose McIvor and Jim Parenteau.
Virginia is survived by Geraldine Harrison, Doreen Meawasige, Emily Ambridge, Evelyn Meawasige, Mary Meawasige, Doris Meawasige and Frank Meawasige; and her children – Kathy &Shane, Ron & Angie (Austin, Trinity, Grace), Joey & Kristina, Kaylie & Mark (Shayne, Taveon, Berkley), Darlene & Brian, (Brittany, Gordie, Chyanne, Matt), Art & Pam, (Chase, Lisa, Mia, Alleashia) & (Calieb, Cody, and Art) and Darryl Cook.
When Virginia was a young woman she worked in Eagle Lake Ontario at various tourist camps as well as in the Cascade Hotel kitchen. Virginia was a stay at home Mom who was always busy with her family. She loved to garden not only flowers but a vegetable garden as well. Virginia loved to camp and would travel with her husband and children to Manitoba and Ontario almost every summer. She enjoyed going to the Eagle Lake Pow Wow where she could visit many of her family and friends.
Virginia volunteered for the Port Alberni Friendship Center for the Cultural Camping Trip, Youth & Elder’s Field Trip, and was a member of the crochet club. The crochet club made articles for the Elder’s at the Christmas Dinner, Ty Watson House and a church in Victoria called “Our Place”.
Virginia’s hobbies were crocheting , gardening, camping, preserving and she worked with leather making medicine pouches, wallets, camera cases and purses.
