Yvonne Thelma OSTROM

Yvonne passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the age of 79.  Born in Cantebury, England, Yvonne immigrated to Canada in the mid 60's with her husband, Bryan.  They settled firstly in  Richmond, BC, then moved to Langley and on to Surrey.  In January of  1995 they relocated to Parksville, BC after Yvonne retired from her career with the Royal Bank in May of 1994.  Yvonne was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Bryan Ostrom on September 4, 2014; siblings, Daphne, Joan and Vernon of England; sister, Gwen of Australia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Yvonne and Bryan loved to travel the world.  Some highlights included trips back to England, and further afield to Egypt, Australia, and South America.  They also kept in touch over the years with their friends on the Mainland.

At home here in Parksville, Yvonne and Bryan were both animal lovers and gave many deserving pets a good home.  Upon retirement, Yvonne enjoyed volunteering for the Salvation Army and local theatre.  She also participated in fitness programs at the Parksville Senior's Centre.  A avid dancer from childhood in England, Yvonne also enjoyed ballroom dancing.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In keeping with Yvonne's wishes, no service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour her memory may do so by making a donation in her name to with the Salvation Army, PO Box 1874, Parksville, BC  V9P 2H6, the Parksville SPCA, PO Box 1407, Parksville, BC  V9P 2H3 or to a charity of your choosing.
