

Alfred J. Montalvo was born in Rockdale, Texas to Jose and Herlinda Montalvo on April 19, 1924, he passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2015. He married Frances Downing in Little Rock, Arkansas on October 25, 1947 and they raised 6 children in Pasadena, Tx. He is survived by Frances, his wife of 67 years; daughters, Dodie Cooper, Becky Clinard and husband Jerome, Rachael Southard and husband Fred, Melinda FitzGerrell and husband Greg; sons, Mike and wife Karen, Gene and wife Terry. He enjoyed his large family and especially his grandchildren; Lee Cooper, Tim Cooper and son Joshua, Brandon, wife Hanna and their boys, Shawn, wife Callie and their children, Sabrina Bowen, husband Dustin and their children. Ps.127:3-5 “Children are an heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man: So are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them.”
Alfred loved college football, especially Arkansas and Notre Dame! He taught all the boys in the family how to play golf on San Jac’s course, and provided a house on Lake Murvaul for boating and fishing fun.
He joined the Knights of Columbus in Little Rock, AR when he was 18 years old and was an active member for 72 years. He was a member of St. Pius V Catholic Church for 46 years and recently a member of St. Frances Cabrini.
He retired from Stewart and Stevenson after 29 years of service. Alfred was a member of many community service organizations including; St. Pius V Sunshiners, Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, Senior Olympics, Bayshore Hospital Volunteer, Knights Council 3700, and the Fairmont Whataburger Bunch.
After many years of volunteering and serving others, Alfred was ministered to by his loving family and the special caregivers at Heritage House Assisted Living in Pasadena. He is presently in the arms of the angels.
