She graduated from Pasadena High School, then University of Houston. She obtained her teaching certificate and taught until she retired in 1994.
She was married to Floyd Mitchell McCoy in 1958 and remained so for 54 years until his death in 2014.
After retirement her focus was on her church and her family. She always enjoyed going on road trips, senior adult trips with the church and just going up to their country house to visit with her sister and brother-in-law. Carolyn moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2010 to be closer to her family and remained there until her death. Her passion was to serve God. She spent her life teaching kids and making sure that they knew they were loved.
Carolyn is survived by her son Kyle McCoy and his wife Julie, grandchildren Jordan McCoy and wife Jessica, and Lindsey Siemers and husband Jared, as well as her four beautiful great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Mitchell McCoy, parents Vivian Wilson and Marvin Cummings and siblings, Jean Woods, Sharon Albert, and Richard Cummings.
A visitation will be on Monday from 5:00-7:00 at Pasadena Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at South Main Baptist Church Tuesday, December 13th at 12PM at South Main Baptist Church located at 4300 East Sam Houston Pkwy, Pasadena, TX. Immediately following Carolyn will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery next to her beloved husband.
In lieu of flowers, Carolyn would have wanted donations to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
