CATHERINE MARGARET LEIMBACH age 91 of Pasadena, Texas, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026. She was born on June 4, 1934 in Austin, Texas and was the youngest of 3 children born to Ben Allen Sieck and Elizabeth Kieschnick Sieck. She is survived by her husband, William Leimbach and her children: Elizabeth (Marcus) Friske, James (Michelle) Leimbach and Kimberly (Johnathan) Green; grandchildren: Evan Friske and wife, Valeria, Shannon Friske, Dylan Friske, Alecia (Leimbach) and husband Bob Dull, Cody Leimbach and wife, Elena, Sophia Green and Olivia Green; great-grandchildren: Ethan Friske, Elijah Friske, Adylyn Smith, Noah Leimbach, Makayla Leimbach, Charlotte Leimbach, Gage Leimbach, Oliver Dull and Lily Dull; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She graduated Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, Illinois on June 10, 1955 where she met the love her life, Bill Leimbach. She was assigned to help start a school at Zion Lutheran in Pasadena, Texas. She was called to teach, play the organ, direct a youth choir and print the church bulletin. Bill was called to teach at Trinity Lutheran in Houston. They were married on June 30, 1956. In 1957, Bill accepted a call to Zion Lutheran and they moved to Pasadena. She taught through 1962 and chose to stay home with their children, Beth and James. Bill became Zion’s principal and needed a 2nd grade teacher so she taught it. She planned to stay home the following year, but when the secretary quit on the 2nd day of school, Bill said “I need your help.” She helped for 7 years until their daughter, Kim, was born. She stayed home with her until she was three and then returned to work in Zion’s office. She had the privilege to work in the office for 25 years with a number of pastors and principals as well as teachers.
Cathy served on many church committees but the Evangelism Board held a special place for her. This was learned from her mother who wanted all people to learn about our Savior. She was blessed to start the LifeLight groups at Zion and witnessed many people become involved in intense Bible study. She enjoyed singing in the choir, played the organ and piano, helped organize ZEAL and the Eunice ladies group and served as president of the YAH group.
Her hobbies included cooking, sending cards, reading and enjoying family gatherings.
Besides the volunteering opportunities at church, she spent many hours volunteering at Bayshore Medical Group in Pasadena, now called HCA Healthcare SE and made many friends in that group. She served several years as President, worked in the gift shop as well as the Information desk. When she was not physically able to continue those positions, she faithfully worked from home, teaching, assisting others and preparing the monthly newsletter.
Cathy was dearly loved by family and friends. She was kind, thoughtful and a listening ear to so many. She was never afraid to learn something new and was willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn. She loved to share about Jesus and witnessed to so many including her doctors and the teenagers/young adults who put the groceries in the car. Every week she asked them if she could pray for them and gave many of them their first Bible.
