His daughters called him Daddy, his wife, Betty called him Pa, friends/family called him Dayton, and co-workers knew him as Red. His Lord & Savior knew him intimately by name as a good and faithful servant.
Dayton Dickey left this earth in peace with the joy of “approaching Jesus” & went to his heavenly home on Saturday, February 11, 2023 where he was surrounded by the glory of the Lord he loved so dearly.
Dayton was born to John Franklin & Fleeta Belle Dickey on February 11, 1928 in Hagerman, TX. He married the beautiful Betty Rae Crook on May 13, 1948 in Sherman, Texas.
He was devoted to Betty & their 3 daughters – Kay, Donna & Debbie: always working hard for his family of girls. His passions included reading his bible, fishing, and woodworking. Our daddy especially loved harassing his daughters about their lack of fraction knowledge. A hard-working, kind & gentle man who always found time to help with answering a question or help solve a problem. He lived with a strong belief in Jesus Christ. His two favorite verses – John 14:6 “Jesus said I am the way, the truth, & the life, no man comes to the Father except through me.” II Corinthians 5:8 “to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”
Dayton is survived by his daughters - Kay Austin, Debbie Ihnen (Phil), grandchildren - Christa Ashlock (Nathan), Kyle Gibson (Brandi), Amanda Ward (Jeff), Keri Beard (Ernie), Sarah Quade (Robert) & Joshua Ihnen (Sierra). Great-grandchildren – Kyla & Allie Campbell, Reese Gibson, Dayton & Kase Ashlock and Kolten Quade. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty and their middle daughter, Donna Gibson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 16th from 10:00AM-11:00AM with a Celebration of Dayton’s Life beginning at 11:00AM at Pasadena Funeral Chapel located at 2203 Pasadena Boulevard. Immediately following, he will be laid to rest at Grand View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society or MDA/ALS.
