Fermana Kolenda

On Thursday, July 7, 2022, Tammy (Fammie) Kolenda, loving wife and mother of four children, passed peacefully in her sleep at her residence in Pasadena, TX with her family by her side at the age of 81.

Tammy was born August 11, 1940 in Austin, TX to Maria Perez and Benito Garcia. She was a nurse/ physical therapist at Pasadena General Hospital for many years before she retired.

On October 7, 1995 Tammy was blessed to marry her longtime friend and love, Clarence Kolenda, her “Big Bear”. He LOVED and worshipped the ground she walked on until her last breath. She devoted her life to loving her family and her faith in God. She especially loved her role as Grandma. Her life was a living example of one of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32- “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ”.

Tammy enjoyed reading mysteries and romance novels, loved the Rockets team, flowers, dancing to the Macarena, loved her soap operas, Young and the Restless, and the Bold and the Beautiful. She made the best tortillas, beans, and spaghetti on this side of Pasadena. Tammy never met a stranger, always had her heart, and door opened to anyone who needed her. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Tammy is preceded in death by her six siblings Antonia Garcia (Vasquez), Mary Louisa Garcia (Vera), Manuel Garcia, Inez Garcia, Bennie Garcia, and Dolores Garcia (Alvarez).

Tammy’s spirit is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Clarence Kolenda, her daughters Diane, Leighann, Pam, Korinna, and her sons Tommy, Ricky, Dean and their spouses Billy, Larry, Lorri, Melissa; plus 17 grandkids, 26 great grandkids, and her many nephews, nieces, and friends. Everyone she loved and touched deeply.

Please join us Thursday July 14th, 2022 from 5-8pm for the viewing/ visitation at Pasadena Funeral Chapel located at 2203 Pasadena Blvd., Pasadena, TX 77502. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 15th, 2022 at 2pm at Pasadena Funeral Chapel with Pastor Debbie Burnett from Calvary Chapel. It will be immediately followed by a graveside burial ceremony at Grand View Funeral Home & Memorial Park, located at 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505.

There will be a reception following the conclusion of services to celebrate her life at Clarence’s house located at 6414 Tamar Dr. Pasadena, TX 77503.
