

Howard was raised in Teague, Texas, where he attended and graduated from Teague High School. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the United States Air Force in 1966 answering the call to serve during the Vietnam War. He proudly served four years of active duty, including two years in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1970. He carried his veteran status with deep pride for the rest of his life-he truly bled red, white, and blue.
Upon returning home, he continued his life of service by joining the Harris County Sheriff's Department, where he dedicated over 30-years to protecting and serving his community. Even after retirement, his commitment to law enforcement never faded. He went on to serve several more years as a police officer at San Jacinto College before retiring for good. Being a lawman was not just a career for him—it was who he was. He loved his brothers in blue and the badge he wore with honor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Minnie Jo Gore; his sisters, Peggy and Janet; and His daughter, K.K. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Gore; his children, Joseph Gore, Chris Gore, and Shellye Gore Sullivan, and his treasured grandchildren Ty, Hunter, Leighton, and Laila.
He was a devoted husband to Pamela Gore for 44 years, a proud and loving father, and an adoring grandfather. In quieter moments, he could often be found fishing at the pier in Galveston, Texas, a place that brought him peace and happiness.
He proudly served his country and his community with courage, integrity, and honor As a United States Air Force Vietnam veteran and a dedicated law enforcement officer, he answered every call without hesitation and stood as a protector. for others. His watch has now ended, but his legacy of service will never fade.
