Imelda – known to her great-grandchildren as “Wita,” – was a native of Mexico born in Tamaulipas on February 15, 1937. Growing up in a large family she understood the meaning of family. Imelda retired from Pasadena Independent School District after 12 years. She had a love for cooking, spending time with her family, and shopping.
She traveled to California to harvest grapes where she met the love of her life. They were married in Mier, Tamualipas in 1958. They lived in California and different cities in Texas and in 1972, they purchased their forever home in Pasadena.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Aristeo and Pamfila Ramirez; husband, Roberto C. Chapa; and daughter, Iris O. Chapa.
She is survived by her children, Robert C. Chapa Jr. and wife Rachel, Raul A. Chapa and wife Rosie; grandchildren: Dionicia and husband Alfonso, Robert Anthony Chapa, Raul A. Chapa Jr., JohnnyBoy Chapa, Gabriella O. Chapa, Carlos and wife Stefanie; and great-grandchildren: Carter, Andy, Jeremiah, Alexis, Jayden, Aristeo, Julia, Aliana, Aubree, Juanito, Jazzalyn, Ariana, Carter and Cash. There are also brothers and sisters, innumerable nieces, nephews, cousins and more, all of which hold the fondest memories of her.
Imelda always shared her love for cooking by inviting you over for dinner. As the loving and caring matriarch of the family she was very involved with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s activities. Most recently her greatest joy and love was attending and cheering for her great grandchildren during piano recitals and their games of softball, baseball, and soccer.
She was a force to be reckoned with: quite, strong, witty, protective, gentle and tender-hearted. Known for her infectious smile, her words of wisdom, and her tiny eyes. Imelda was at her happiest when she was surrounded by the people she loved. Family was her life. She leaves us with a lifetime of great memories and will truly be missed more than words can express by all who loved her, but her legacy will live on through those she touched.
Mathew 5:4
Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
Verse:
Revelation 21:4
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
