Sue was a loving wife to her husband, William, and a selfless and devoted mother to her 3 sons, Bill, Scott, and Greg. Out of the love she had for all children, she chose to open her home as a babysitter for countless numbers of kids over the years. She always boisterously welcomed her sons’ friends into her home with her Arkansas drawl, usually accompanied by a big hug. Surely her favorite role in life was being “Meme!” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, showering them with love, hugs, and an overabundance of presents.
Sue also loved to garden, though never seemed to best that “damned fungus” that killed her tomato plants every year. Anyone that knew her well was bound to get a jar of her homemade pickles, jams, or salsas. The local nurseries and farmers markets will certainly miss her.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Judy Griffin; her husband of 39 years, William Lee Monk; and her son William “Bill” Thomas Monk.
She is survived by her sons Scott Alan Monk and wife Jill, and George Gregory “Greg” Monk; grandchildren Ashleigh, Shelby, Haley, Kelsey, Kylie, Kolby, and Hayden; great-grandchildren Tinley, Blakely, Avery, Emmerson, Baker, and Wrenley; and numerous beloved friends. We will all miss her so very much.
Sue loved the color yellow and any flowers that were yellow. Visitation will be Monday, January 6, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm at Pasadena Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Grand View Cemetery at 3:30 PM.
