Julian Magadan was born on September 11, 1949, to Julian and Felicitas Magadan in San Nicolas de Los Garza, Mexico. He grew up in a large family with little means always aspiring to one day offer more to his own. In 1968, he left his family and home to come to the United States in search of the American Dream.
In 1974, when working at a local factory he met the love of his life, Sylvia Garza. Julian and Sylvia went on to marry in 1977 and had three children together; Julian, Robert, and Randy.
After suffering a back injury at work, his career ambitions drastically changed. He went on to pursue a career in Upholstery and dreamed about one day opening a large shop. Through perseverance, hard work and his wife’s help, he was able to open a small shop next door to his home.
Julian was never able to complete his higher education so his dream was for his sons to achieve what he was not able to. His son Julian graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern as a physician and later obtained a medical specialty in Rheumatology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. His twin sons, Robert and Randy each graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s of Science degree to pursue careers in the oil and gas industry.
Julian should be remembered as a kind man; who loved animals, who enjoyed telling stories of his life, liked working on old cars, helping people and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
Julian was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Raul, Eusebio, Juan, Blanca, and Tomasa. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sylvia who never left his side from the day that they married, to the day that he suffered his debilitating stroke in 2014, until the day that he passed. He is survived by his three sons Julian, Robert, and Randy.
A celebration of Julian’s life will be held at the Pasadena Funeral Chapel from 5-8 pm. Prayer and Rosary will be from 6-7 pm at Pasadena Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at San Juan Diego Catholic Church from 11 am – 12 pm. You may arrive from 10-11 am for visitation at the church. His Committal Service will be held from 12:30 pm-1:30 pm at South Park Cemetery.
