Julianne Renee’ Smith, Julie, as everyone knew her, lived her life for her family. Julie passed on Thursday, May 11th, 2023, at the age of 63 at the Courtyards of Pasadena. Julie was in the 1978 graduating class of Pasadena High School. There she participated in the Marching band color guard and played on the fighting Eagles basketball team. She also attended several classes at San Jacinto College.
Julie lived a life of constant service. Her career reflected her love for others. She worked for Sears and later for Texas Children's Hospital as a Customer Service Representative. She won many awards and various recognitions for her outstanding devotion to the innumerable people she served.
In her early years, Julie enjoyed reading, basketball, playing the obo and dancing in the color guard as part of the marching band. She was a lover of music but highly favored the hard rock and heavy metal of the 70’s and 80’s. Throughout her life, Julie loved making beautiful memories though the adventures she shared with her family such as going to the beach, theme parks, trips to New York and the United Kingdom. She was also known for her fun and quirky sense of humor. Her smile and kindness were contagious, and one couldn’t help but feel special around her. She loved unconditionally.
Julie is preceded by her father and stepmother, Inez and Lupe Martinez; her mother and stepfather Eufemia and Marvin Holbert, and two brothers, Michael and Bernard Martinez. She is survived by her husband, Jon Smith; a daughter, Jenna Ballard; 3 grandchildren, Jade, Dane and Julie Ballard; her sister, Rebecca Gallagher and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held 5/17/2023 at Pasadena Funeral Hall, 2203 Pasadena Blvd, Pasadena, TX 77502. The viewing will be at 9:00 am followed by a 10:00 am Celebration of Life. The burial will be at Forest Park East Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster Tx 77598.
