Born on May 11, 1926, in Normangee, Texas, she was raised in North Zulch in a wood-frame house built by her father. She attended Bundic Grade School and graduated from North Zulch High School. At just 16 years old, Norma Lee married Johnnie Patrick Hicks of North Zulch. The couple lived there for two years, welcoming their first child, Jerry, before moving to Houston in 1945, where they raised their growing family—Johnnie, Norman, Pamela, and Don. A natural leader and motivator, Norma Lee began selling Stanley Home Products in 1950. Her passion for uplifting others led her to become a District Manager, a role she held until 2005. She was a cheerleader for countless women seeking work and purpose, always encouraging them with her trademark optimism and faith.
Norma Lee’s devotion to her community and church was unwavering. She shared her faith with everyone she met and was known as a prayer warrior—praying daily by name for everyone she knew. She founded her own card ministry, sending thoughtful messages to friends and family every day. If she hadn’t spoken to you in a while, she’d call just to remind you that you were loved. She will be deeply missed by her children: Jerry and wife Bebe Hicks, Norman and wife Sheila Hicks, Pamela and husband John Robberson, Don Hicks and Sherril Hicks, and daughter-in-law Belle Hicks. Her legacy continues through 13 grandchildren, 24 greatgrandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
