

Opal Lorene "Lorraine" Dobbins Age 91, of Webster, Texas, passed away on November 23, 2024. Lorraine was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on October 19, 1933 to Benjamin Franklin Whiteley and O.V. (Patty) Bachhofer. She was one of eight children - Edith, Bill, Corkey, Ben Ray, Dorthey Lee, Jerry Sue, and Patricia Ann Whiteley. Through her Mom’s marriage to Harry Edward Moore, she had two step-brothers Gary and Billy Don.
On March 4, 1952 Lorraine married Jack Ramsey in Houston, Texas, and together they had two daughters: Jacquelyn Sue and Dorothy Lorraine (Curtis) Brown. On April 5, 1965 Lorraine married Dale Stanley Stephens in Stillwell, Oklahoma. Together, Lorraine and Dale raised four children: Sheri (James) Hernandez, Joe Bryan, De'An (Rick) Dail, and Jon Allen (Angie) Stephens. Dale brought four children from a previous marriage into their family: Dale, Jr., Dean (Diane), Dana and Suzanne. On April 21, 1995 Lorraine married Don Dobbins in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Lorraine attended Horace Mann Elementary School, where she developed a love of learning, A fond memory from her youth was playing a part in the school play. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1951 and went on to attend Poly-Tech Trade School in Fort Worth, and Modern Beauty College in Houston, where she graduated in 1952.
Lorraine worked as a hair stylist for 68 years, beginning at Patty’s Beauty Shop at the age of 16. She had a great love for family and friends, and a passion for dancing, sunshine, and the beach. She enjoyed reading, sharing jokes and laughter with those around her and treasured family reunions, as well as holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
She always had a smile on her face and loved to make others laugh. She was kind and generous and would give anyone the shirt off of her back. She once said, “I’d like to think I influenced someone to do something good.”
A pivotal moment in Lorraine’s life came when she was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 3, 2015, in League City, Texas.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Franklin and Patty; her stepfather, Harry Edward Moore; her siblings Edith, Billy, Dorthey Lee, Jerry Sue, and Patricia Ann; and her stepbrothers, Gary and Billy Don Moore. She was also preceded by her husbands, Dale Stephens and Don Dobbins; her son, Joe Bryan Stephens, stepson Dana; and her daughter, Jacquie Hughen.
She is survived by her sister, Corkey Birdsall of New Mexico; her brother, Ben Ray Whiteley of Texas; her grandchildren: Dawn Scott, Angela (Felipe) Gonzales, Ryan (Mary) Davis, Kim (Tommy) Cook, Erik (Kristen) Davis, Michael Brown, Samantha (D.J.) Mardis, Jessi Hernandez, Chance Hernandez, Heather (Billy) Wanca. William Stephens, Pamela Collins, Matthew Collins as well as 19 great grandchildren.
