

Ray Philip White, 87 passed away peacefully at Grace Residential Care Center on May 26, 2014 surrounded by family after years of going through the stages of a memory disorder. Their residence was in an retirement home in Woodlands, Texas.
He was born August 9, 1926 in Weslaco, TX to Ivan and Helen White of Weslaco, TX. He graduated from Edinburg High School in Edinburg, TX in 1943 and received a Bachelor degree in Science from A & I(now A & M) college in Kingsville, TX in 1950. After working for several years with Future Farmers Association, farming for a period of time, he went to work for Shell Chemical Company in Deer Park, TX and remained in this company for 30 years.
He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1944-1946 as a Technical Sergeant and remained in the reserves until March 1957 as a second Lieutenant INF USAR. He is a Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an active member of the Deer Park United Methodist Church in Deer Park, TX and helped carry out many projects during the years, and belonged to the Spaceland chapter 2-UMCampers group. His hobby was carpentry work-building, repairing things, mechanic work, and stayed busy teaching his son, Dale Ray White these traits. He enjoyed his 20 years of traveling in a recreational vehicle with his loved wife, Fern White. Many years of fun and experiences in their retirement years. His love for his family was outstanding. Hunting and fishing was a big part of his life with his son, Dale and Greg, his son-in-law. Ray and Fern spent a lot time volunteering in the Nomads group and at the YMCA in the Rocky Mountains in Winter Park, CO. All of the work projects were with a group of people that gave us a lot of fellowship and pleasure.
He married his beloved Fern P. Gibson in 1950 and enjoyed 64yrs of marriage. He is preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Helen White, one sister, Ethyl Jean Prycer. His sister, Marie White Wright resides in Prescott, AZ.
Survivors include his wife Fern, two children, Yvonne Lorraine Schaller and husband Greg; Dale Ray White and his wife, Melinda. Grandchildren: Jason Schaller and wife Tera, Paul Schaller and wife Summer, Melanie Ballard and Lee Ballard (deceased). Great-grand children. Owen, Cecilia, and Avery Schaller, Evelyn Anne Schaller, Caleb Holleman, & Michael Ballard . There are nieces, nephews, and cousins to be remembered with love along with many friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Pasadena Funeral Chapel from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and for 1 hour prior to the funeral services, which will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Pasadena Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donation be made to the Deer Park United Methodist Church-1300 E. 13th-Deer Park, TX. 77536, Hospice, or the Alzheimer Association.
