Zelda Murl Brunson

15 août , 192511 novembre , 2019

Zelda Murl Brunson died on November 11, 2019 at 94 years of age.

Mrs. Brunson was born on August 15, 1925 to Bruce and Lucinda Dykes in Soso Mississippi. Zelda was blessed to have three wonderful gentlemen in her life. She married Willis Brunson on December 19, 1946. Following his death, she spent many happy years with R.L. Kefauver and later with Don (Sonny) Bosworth. Mrs. Brunson enjoyed life to its fullest. She and Willis moved to Houston, Texas in the early 1950s seeking adventure in the big city. She had no children of her own, but was like a second mother to her nieces Deborah Currie, Janice Gates and Denise Flores. She was “the fun aunt” and along with Uncle Willis, took her nieces to square dances and on camping trips. She had many adventures Houston Rodeo trail riding with R.L. and socializing at the Elks Club with Sonny. She was a fantastic cook and could always be counted on to bring something good to socials at her church. She had a real green thumb and grew beautiful flowering plants and planted a vegetable garden well into her 80s. She had numerous friends and could often be found talking on the cell phone in her later years. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Brunson is survived by seven nieces and nephews and their children. She is preceded in death by her husband Willis Brunson, R.L. Kefauver, Sonny Bosworth and her siblings Gerald Dykes, Donice Stanfill and Norma Jean Shelton.

Visitation and service will take place on November 19, 2019 at Pasadena Funeral Chapel, 2203 Pasadena Boulevard, Pasadena, Texas at 9 am and 10 am respectively. Mrs. Brunson will be buried at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas on November 19, 2019 at 2 pm.
