early Tuesday morning on October 5th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Arlene was born on October 23,1935 in Tujunga, California to William A. Spalding & Antonia
Cano/Spalding. Arlene was the oldest of four children. She lived in the Los Angeles area &
moved with her family to Tujunga, California when she was 10 years old. She graduated
Verdugo Hills High School in 1953, marrying her fiance Rollin L. Simmons, the love of her life, a
few days later on June 20th. Arlene had three beautiful daughters, Diane, Linda & Shirley
(deceased) raising them with her husband Rollin in Sunland, California. She was a loving &
devoted mother who always took pride in taking care of her family. Not a day went by where her
daughters didn't remember her singing & listening to music. Arlene was a social butterfly & was
actively involved in her daughters' schools & PTA for many years. She also was a beautiful
brave co-pilot in red lipstick with her husband on many dune buggy off-road adventures,
camping & fishing trips. She loved to cook & enjoyed friend & family gatherings on holidays &
special occasions. Once her children were grown, she & her husband moved to Kernville,
California, eventually residing in their home in Onyx, California in 1989, creating a beautiful
oasis & memories where family loved to gather. In her later years, Arlene was an active member
in her local women's club in Weldon, California, acting President for one year, & devoted a lot of
her time to good causes. In her down time Arlene loved to sit with an exciting novel & a cup of
tea.
Arlene was a bright, loving, wonderful, & gorgeous person inside & out. She had the most
generous, selfless & beautiful heart. Her loving energy broadcasted everywhere she was. She
was loved & adored by everyone she came in contact with. Her sense of humor, quick wit, smile
& laugh were contagious. Arlene deeply loved & admired her husband Rollin & was a very
nurturing mother & grandmother. Arlene’s love was a true inspiration to all, as it was her love
that built the strong foundation her family has today. She was the sunshine of their lives & will be
missed, always.
Arlene is survived by her devoted & loving husband of 68 years, Rollin Lee Simmons, her
daughters Diane & Linda, her siblings Bill & Ellie, her grandchildren Dana, David, Jeff, Renee,
