

Connie was born in Seattle, Washington state on February 22, 1933, the daughter of Fred A. Darnall and Elizabeth (Bessie) K. (Hillman) Darnall. Her early childhood was spent in Seattle, Washington state, before her mother, B. K. Hillman, moved the family to the Hillman Estrella Ranch in Paso Robles, California. During these years, she developed her life-long love of horses, cattle and the business aspects of ranching.
For most of her life, Connie lived with the effects and challenges of Rheumatoid Arthritis. She became a necessary expert in the formulary and dietary aspects of Arthritis. She became a master of invention, finding creative ways of performing basic daily tasks.
She is survived by her sons Steven J. Johnson (Jeanette) and Craig A. Johnson (Patricia) and brother Paul Bates. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her family will be forever grateful for the care and loving support provided to Connie by her caregivers and Wilshire Hospice during the last years and weeks of her life.
A memorial service for Constance will be held at the Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral home in Paso Robles on Saturday, June 6. Her family welcomes all to join them in celebrating her life.
