

Dan was born July 10th, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN to Joseph Hoy and Mary Fitzgerald. He relocated to Orange County, CA with his brother Mike Hoy in 1962. There he met and married his beloved wife, Cheryl Hoy, in 1966 and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Cal State Fullerton in 1972. Dan and Cheryl raised two children, Kari and Nick in Paso Robles, CA where Dan lived for the past 40 years.
Dan was an avid golfer and enjoyed the game of baseball. He never missed a single volleyball tournament or football game when Kari and Nick were playing. As a young man, Dan played hockey in Minnesota and raced go-carts. He had a passion for photography and was an exceptional fisherman. His pride was in his career as a Parole Agent for the State of California where he retired his service as a District Administrator for the Department of Corrections. He will be remembered as a great storyteller and a self-made man.
Dan was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Cheryl, his brother, Mike, who he adored, and his mother, Mary, and father, Joseph. He is survived by his two children, Kari and Nick, and granddaughter, Charley.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19th, 2020 at Paso Robles District Cemetery on 45 Nacimiento Lake Dr., Paso Robles, CA. Flowers may be sent to Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home on 1703 Spring St., Paso Robles, CA 93446.
