Ethel “Priscilla” Young, also known as Momo, was gentle, kind, loving, and genuine. She was our guide through the years when things were difficult or joyous and was our biggest cheerleader with every achievement we made. Our Momo was the foundation of our family. We celebrate her life today knowing she is home with God and without pain.
God, family and friends were the most important things to Momo, and she spoke often about her early childhood of family gatherings and Holidays. How happy she was to spend time with her Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Grandparents. She always had a strong bond with her parents and brothers as well. That strength of family carried over to when she had her own kids and grandkids. When we think of Momo, we know the true meaning of love.
So many things we will miss about her. Her laugh, smile, humor, cooking and her hugs. She loved baking cookies and is known as the “cookie lady” at the post office. She would send many packages of cookies to her brothers and grandkids. And they were well received.
Shaver Lake was a very special place for her. Momo loved being there during the summer. She and Papo would pack up their trailer and head off to the lake for a week or two. They would take their kids and grandkids, meet up with Uncle Pat, Aunt Susan and their family. Other family members would join them as well over the years. Shaver Lake holds memories of family, friends, laughter, fun, and spending quality time with each other. We will never forget tubing with Uncle Pat in his boat. He would see how high he could bounce the kids off the wake, testing who could hold on and who flew off.
To our Papo, we know how difficult this time is for you. We know that losing Momo took a part of you with her. Just know your kids and grandkids love you very much and we are here for you.
Phil would like to thank you Momo, for taking him in as one of your own and being a mother figure to him. He really appreciated and loved you for that.
Momo woman of joy, light, kindness and warmth. A woman of love and positivity, a ray of sunshine that will be so desperately missed from this world.
We will always love you Momo. And in her words, she would say back to us “I love you more”.
Thank you all for showing up today to honor our Momo’s memory and legacy. We know it would’ve warmed her heart to see you all here and we appreciate it greatly.
