

Tanis Brown Shore, 67, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep early June 16, 2016. She was born Nov. 23, 1948 and raised in Bakersfield, CA, by her loving parents, Virgil & Roberta Brown. After graduating from South High School, Tanis taught English and English Literature at Nueva Continuation in Arvin and West High School in Bakersfield. She also headed the Self Esteem program for girls at West High.
Tanis loved traveling to Oxford, England for literature seminars and to Vermont. She loved to decorate and throw parties. Her Halloween parties are still talked about forty years later.
Tanis was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Jeffery Brown. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert Shore; her son, Jason, and her daughter, Brianna; and grandson, Christopher Shore.
Thank you, Tanis, for teaching us and being our angel. Because you loved flowers, we wouldn't want to say, "in lieu of." Instead please consider being an angel for someone that's in need because that was one of her favorite secrets.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 22, from 5-7 pm at Kuehl-Nicolay, 1703 Spring St., Paso Robles, Thursday, June 23, at 2pm a Memorial Service will be held at Highlands Church, 215 Oak Hill Rd., Paso Robles. A Celebration of Tanis's life will also be held Thursday evening at 4pm at the Shore home. A Graveside service will be held Friday, June 24, 10am at Paso Robles District Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home, Paso Robles, CA.
