Betty Jane Smoke

Betty was born on October 15, 1930 in Carroll, Ohio to the late Alston and Mamie (Alspach) Snyder. She died Friday, June 6, 2014 at Mt Carmel East Hospital. She was 83.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Chester Smoke, who died in 2007 and her son Jerry Smoke, sister Janet Watkins, her brother Donny Arledge, and her step-father Carl Arledge. She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline (Ernie) Bowles, sons Gary (Lou Bevins) Smoke, and Dennis Smoke; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, sister Jean (Carl) Rousch, brothers Carl (Shirley) Arledge and Jimmy Arledge, and her cat “Lucky”. She was the Mentor of her family.

Betty was a member of the Bloom Carroll High School Class of 1950; she was a wonderful cook and loved to bake for her family, loved to garden and collect antique figurines, especially of chickens.
