Marie was born in Inez, Kentucky to the late Henry C. and Lucinda (Blankenship) Etter.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lafayette Varney in 1991 and her brother Henry Etter Jr. and daughter Nila.
Marie is survived by her children Sue Blanton of Columbus, Joanetta and Gary Smith of West Virginia, Rita and Fred Agresta of Logan, and William and Orlissa Varney of Alabama, daughter-in-law Robin Varney, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Hillview Freewill Baptist Church and the Columbus United Baptist Church, and she loved to sew and tend her flower gardens.
Private services will be observed by the family.
