Vera Virginia Hobbs

A Funeral Mass for Vera Virginia Hobbs of Pataskala will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in Gahanna at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Jersey Cemetery.

Vera was born on December 9, 1932, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Walter and Aldine (Collins) Wittman. She passed on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at The Avalon of New Albany, at the age of 91.

Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Don” Hobbs; children, Steven Hobbs, Peggy Carrier and Diana Clagg; grandson, Donnie Smith; brothers, Walter Wittman, John Wittman, and Robert Wittman; sisters, Ruth Krumm, Ann Wittman, Mary Wittman, and Margaret Suver.

Vera is survived by her children, Nancy (Smitty) Smith, Cathy (Butch) Wedertz, and Ron (Kim) Hobbs; grandchildren, Bryan (Jennifer) Clagg, Shane Clagg, Ty (Concetta) Clagg, Chris Carrier, Dan Carrier, Megan (Shawn) Osborn, Buddy Wedertz, Mindy (Zach) Evans, Amanda Hobbs, and Rachael (Cole) Hobbs; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Danny (Linda) Hobbs; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones.

Vera married her beloved soulmate Don in 1950, and were happily married for 51 years. She worked hard alongside Don tending to their farm, and was a true farmer’s wife. Vera was a friend to all and never knew a stranger, there was always an extra seat available at the dining table for whoever may join.
