

Sandy Holloway, of Payette, was born Christmas Day 1950 to Lawrence “Larry” and Mavis (Berg) Hale of Spokane, WA. Sandy was raised in the Spokane Valley with her brother Ron and sister Lorrie. She graduated in 1969 from Shadle High in Spokane. Sandy attended Spokane Falls Community College and then later graduated with her teaching degree in 1973 from Eastern Washington University.
Sandy married Dwayne Holloway in June of 1973 and they soon moved to Payette County Idaho in 1974 where they started their careers. In November of 1976 they had their daughter Julia and soon after another daughter Danielle in October of 1979.
Sandy started her career with the Fruitland School District, however found her home with the Payette School District in 1977. During her time there she coached every sport imaginable and impacted several young lives. Her passion lied with the dance team and she was recently honored for her work in getting dance and cheer recognized as a sport and was inducted to the Idaho Coaching Hall of Fame. Sandy additionally received the honor of Idaho Educator of the Year twice during her career. She spent the later portion of her career as the middle school principal at McCain. This part of her journey in the district started in 1994 after completing her Master’s in Education at College of Idaho. Sandy retired from the education field in 2009. “A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart.”
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence “Larry” and Mavis Hale. She is survived by her daughter Julia (Levi) Harrison of New Plymouth and daughter Danielle Holloway of Payette; grandchildren Bradie and Logan Reyna, Hope Harrison, Zoey and Olivia Thomas; her brother Ron (Sue) Hale of Sagle ID, sister Lorrie (Chris) Moore of Indianola, WA. She has several nephews and nieces, grand-nephews and grand nieces, some of who call her grandma. She also leaves behind her tribe of loyal followers who know her as mom, aunty, grandma and friend. Sandy passed away March 27, 2017, at home surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Payette High School Auditorium, Payette, ID on Saturday April 8th at 11 a.m. Reception will follow at McCain Middle School, Payette, ID. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the FA Club, c/o Kellie Campbell PO Box 84, Fruitland, ID 83619. The FA Club supports local families and their needs while a loved one is battling cancer.
