Charlotte Virginia Jones Timmons, 85, Fayetteville, died September 14, 2013. She was born February 6, 1929 in Fulton County. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, King C. “Tim” Timmons, children, Mark Timmons, and Ann Timmons.
Mrs. Timmons retired in 1989 as Chief Medical Technologist of South Fulton Hospital’s laboratory, after serving for 25 years. At her retirement reception, Charlotte was given proclamations declaring “Charlotte Timmons Day” in College Park, East Point and Hapeville, with a proclamation by Joe Frank Harris from the Governor’s Office honoring her for an “Outstanding Career”. (While being appreciative of the declarations, Charlotte noted that, “with these and 85 cents, she could get a cup of coffee at Waffle House.”) Survivors include children, King C. "Tim" and Diane Timmons, Spartanburg, SC., Chris and Carol Timmons, Fernandina Beach, FL., Jan and Rick Davenport, Fayetteville, Kay and John Parker, Athens, and Lee and Robert Cheshire, Statesboro; sister-in-law Nora Jones, Sharpsburg; Mary Ann Sullivan, Sue Abt, and Eleanor Timmons, Moreland; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Charlotte Timmons was a woman of wit, wisdom and kindness, whose generosity was equaled by her integrity and quick sense of humor. She leaves a space that can never be filled in the hearts of her family and many, many friends. But she did not want us to mourn her passing; she wanted us to rejoice instead in the happy hours and memories that we will always have. In the words of her favorite hymn, “I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free; for His eye in on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
