

Mr. Fred Jerrell Sims (Jerry), 85, of Peachtree City, GA passed away on February 6, 2017. Born in Jackson, TN on September 22, 1931 to the late Fredrick Lee Sims and Laura Davis Sims, Jerry served in the US Navy and Naval Reserve and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal (2 stars), China Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. A graduate of Northrop Institute of Technology in Inglewood, CA he was employed as an A and P Mechanic with Western Airlines, which later merged with Delta Airlines. Jerry retired from Delta Airlines after 35 years of service in the airline industry.
Jerry was a member of Peachtree City United Methodist Church in Peachtree City, GA and was also an avid world traveler, making 102 trips to Europe. He enjoyed sharing his adventures with others, golf cart riding, and Lake Peachtree sunsets.
Jerry is survived by his brother, Phillip D. Sims (Carol) of Jackson, TN; nieces, Robin Cortes (Jorge) of Kalamazoo, MI and Phoelisa McGuire (Kevin) of Johnston, IA; and nephews, Andrew Sims and Aric Sims both of Jackson, TN; great nieces and nephews, Shawn, Kyle, and Megan McGuire, and Christian and Hannah Cortes; and his dear friends Matt and Kim Graham.
Services will be held at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:00 am. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Jerry will be buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Jackson, TN.
