Helen S. Godwin

Mrs. Helen S. Godwin, age 89 passed away in Union City, GA resident of over 24 plus years in Christian City, volunteered for over 15 years with Graceland, a member of Shandnor Baptist Church in Union City and a retiree from Southern Railway with over 30 years of service.

She is predeceased by her parents T.E.W. Smith and wife, Ollie Smith; her husband, Dwight Godwin; three brothers, Thomas, Fred and James; and two sisters, Audrey, Jason, Reba and Laney.

Helen is survived by her three sons, Doug Pirkle, Sr. (Anita), Morris Godwin (Wanda) and Andy Godwin (Wanda). She is also survived by 6 Grand Children, 7 Great Grand-Daughters and 1 Great Great Grand-Daughter. She is survived by her brother Joe Smith (Mildred) of Salisbury, NC. Three sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, GA from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service for Helen S. Godwin will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in College Park, GA on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291 in honor of Mrs. Helen S. Godwin.
