

Jerry Richard Burnley, Sr., 82, of Peachtree City, GA passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014. Jerry was born on May 11, 1934 in Rome, GA to the late Horace and Ellie Burnley. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1955 and then served our country with the rank of Captain in the US Army as a helicopter pilot; including a tour in Korea. Jerry was a pharmacist for over 50 years and retired from Kroger Pharmacy after 35 years of service in Griffin, GA. He was a devoted family man and leader within many organizations.
He is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Gwendolyn Poole Burnley; sons, Rick Burnley (Janet) of Windermere, FL and Victor Burnley (Ingrid Mounier) of Morrison, CO; daughter, Beverly Ellison (Tod) of Peachtree City, GA; sister, Mary Burnley Bond (Dennis) of Athens, GA; his grandchildren Ben, Alex, Celie, Luc, and Olivier Burnley, Trevor and Morgan Ellison; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you from the family to his loving caregivers at Christian City and Southland Health and Rehab.
The visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 5:00pm til 7:00pm at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, GA. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Peachtree City, Peachtree City, GA. Interment with military honors at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory.
