John "Tom" Thomas Joiner

John Thomas Joiner (Tom), 96, of Meriwether County, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 11, 2022. He is the son of Horace Joiner and Corine Lester Joiner who preceded him in death. He was the last surviving sibling of 4 brothers, Robert, Marvin, Philip and Alvin Joiner and 1 sister, Dorothy, and half-brother Franklin who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Jones Joiner; step-daughter Rachel Kennedy (Bill); and step-son John Kennedy. His 3 surviving daughters are Pam Kirkham, Joy Fretwell (Richard) and Marcy Joiner (Barb); 3 grandsons, Jon Fretwell, Cliff Fretwell (Stephanie) and Brent Kirkham; great grandsons, Anthony Fretwell (Erin) and Cameron Fretwell. great-great grandchildren are Hudson, Maddox and Mia; and his half brother, Terry (Sue).

Tom served in the Navy during WWII as a communications specialist. He had a servant’s heart and faithfully served his church and community. He loved the Lord and lived his life telling others about God’s love. He was a minister of music, a choir director and a youth leader, always serving on the front lines of every church he attended. He is currently a member of Tri-County Baptist Church in Senoia, GA.

He had a long and good life and he will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory, 135 Senoia Road, Peachtree City, GA. Funeral services with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Doug Anderson and Ron Whitlock, Sr. officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Jon Fretwell, Cliff Fretwell, Brent Kirkham, Anthony Fretwell and Cameron Fretwell, Bill Boone and Jerry Farmer. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19 at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr., Canton, GA .
