Born in Murphy, NC, Ken grew up in Red Bank, TN. He attended Red Bank High School where he was an all-state football player and Mr. Red Bank High School. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy. He attended the University of Chattanooga and was an accomplished Golden Gloves boxer. Moving to Atlanta in 1963, Ken worked for Better Brands of Atlanta for over 30 years. He eventually rose to President of the company and was past President of the Georgia Beer Wholesalers Association.
A member of the Roswell Presbyterian Church, Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse (Dick) and Hubbie Rice of Chattanooga; and his wife, Peggy. He is survived by three sons, Richard (Paige) Marietta, Garry (Elisa), Jupiter, FL, and Ken (Terri), Lawrenceville; brother, Jim (Sandra) Rice of Chattanooga; two step-children; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 24 at the Roswell Presbyterian Church, 755 Mimosa Blvd, Roswell, GA 30075, 770-993-6316.
