Langston Matthew Jackson, a proud Leo of 44 years old and true Atlanta native, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024, in his beloved home. He was born on August 6, 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia to his mother and personality twin, Ann Marie Jackson. Langston was a visual representation of the phrase “Forever I Love Atlanta” because he loved the city of Atlanta.
He was so blessed to be taught by both his grandmother and Mabel Jackson at Ralph McGill Elementary and by his mother at Southside High School. Langston developed a love of the English language and followed his mother’s footsteps by attending her alma mater, The Clark Atlanta University, and obtained a Bachelor’s in English. He was a whiz with a pen and writing was his superpower. His love for his mother and the love of education is what inspired him to create the Ann Marie Jackson Scholarship Fund at Southside High School. Throughout his career as an investigator for State of Georgia and Fulton County schools he developed a reputation for being thorough but fair. He found a home in his position at Georgia Tech University and was excited to build a long career there.
Langston had the unique ability to make everyone feel loved and had an infectious laugh. He loved movies, comic books, concerts, and most of all his friends and family. He leaves all us with a legacy of laughter and memories. He is survived by his life partner, Shenáe Holmes; his aunt, Bernadette Jackson; uncle, Michael Jackson; first cousins, Katia Mathis, Will Mathis, Elissa Fontenot, Solomon Jackson, and Maya Jackson. He also leaves behind his cousins, Robert Turner Jr, Nicole Turner, Kiara Turner, Elisa Turner, Danielle Turner, Sydney Turner; great-aunt, Mildred Hill of Paterson, New Jersey; as well as many other cousins in Paterson, New Jersey; Dallas, Texas; and Milledgeville, Georgia.
Langston is now reunited with his mother, Ann Marie Jackson (2016); uncle, Mel Jackson (2005); aunt, Acquanetta Jackson (2016); grandmother; Mable Jackson (2022); favorite cousin/aunt, Betty Williams (2023); best friends, Curtis Slocumb and Chris (?); and many other family members and friends.
