

Lettie Ruth Standridge Sailers, 91 years old, a resident of Spring Arbor, MI and formerly from Sharpsburg, GA, passed away on September 21, 2017 in her home after a courageous battle with heart diseases.
Ruth was born on August 18, 1926, in Douglasville, GA, the daughter of the late Garnette and Blanche Standridge. She was the wife of Sandy Sailers, for 73+ years. Her two brothers, James and Gordan Standridge, predeceased her.
She was currently a member of the Line Creek Baptist Church, Sharpsburg, GA, and an active member of the Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church in Spring Arbor, MI.
Ruth met Sandy when he was visiting her Maysville, GA High School English class. They were married 17 days later on November 14, 1943. They lived in Georgia until 2008 when they moved to Spring Arbor, MI. All of their children were raised in Georgia. She was a devoted wife and mother, and was a homemaker taking care of her family all of her life.
Ruth was a woman of strong faith which was evident in her graceful ways, her constant telling the story of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and unwavering love for God and her family. Ruth was passionate about children and served as a children’s worker with Child Evangelism Fellowship, having Good News Clubs in her home for over 50 years. She was also known for her leadership in Bible Studies volunteer nursing home visits at the Ganton Retirement Community.
Sandy and Ruth moved to Michigan in 2008 and immediately immersed themselves in the Spring Arbor Free Methodist community. She was loved by many as evidenced by the large number of people who came to celebrate her 70th anniversary and 90th birthday. She kept up with all her children’s activities through phone calls and checking her Facebook page. Ruth had an extremely close and loving relationship with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She will be forever missed by her loving family, but they know she is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her husband, Sandy; children, Dan Sailers (Eileen), Dallas, TX; Miriam Sailers Concord, MI; and Michele Tinsley (Alex), Sharpsburg, GA; her adopted daughter, Phyllis McNeil, Decatur, GA. Also surviving are grandchildren Stephen Sailers, Kimberly Johnson, Biloxi, MS; Anna Gay (Charles), Dallas, TX; Crystal Meehan (Jeff), Kennesaw, GA; Chassie McCreary (Mac), Newnan, GA; Andrew, Sharpsburg, GA; and great grandchildren Audrianna, Stephen, Jordan (Brent), Jacob, Emileigh, Kennedy, Hayden, Anslee, Olivia; and great- great-grandchildren Nathan, Isabella, and Jesse. She is also survived by her nephew Mark Standridge and niece Joy Standridge; and two special friends, Jan Yeaman and Paula Hopper.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25 at the Line Creek Baptist Church, 1488 Bob Smith Road, Sharpsburg with Dr. David Hammonds officiating. Interment, Westview Cemetery at 3:00pm. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, September 24 at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, 135 Senoia Road, Peachtree City. A memorial service will be held at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church at a later date..
