Luther James Sanders passed away at his home in Fayetteville on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the age of 68. Luther is predeceased by his parents Luther and Gladys Sanders. Luther is survived by his sisters Sandra Holland and Jane Cornett.
Luther was born in Atlanta, GA on October 17, 1948. He graduated from Russell High School. He was an outstanding athlete and was a professional prospect as a pitcher.
Luther joined the USAF and served four years attaining the grade of SSGT. After leaving the service he worked for Delta Airlines as a mechanic until he retired.
Luther traveled extensively, enjoyed most sporting events and had a passion for racing. He also participated in poker tournaments
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta, GA with USAF Military Honors.
Arrangements were made under the direction of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory, Peachtree City, GA.
