

Stevanie Sandra (Stevens) Richards, of Fayetteville, GA passed away on April 14, 2020. She was born in Jacksonville, FL on July 17, 1936 to Jesse L. Stevens and Marie Grandoff Stevens. When Sandra’s father died, she went to live with an aunt in Raleigh, NC. After graduating from high school, she moved back to Jacksonville where she attended Jacksonville University.
In October 1955 Sandra was on a Greyhound bus bound to Jacksonville from Tallahassee. She sat down next to a nice young Marine named Jim Richards, who happened to be stationed in Jax. They began a romance, two years later they were married, and they were happily married for 62 years until her death.
Sandra and Jim loved to travel and had visited 48 of the 50 states plus took 10 cruises to all parts of the world. They were very active square dancers dancing up to challenge Level C-3A. They danced in some 18 states and on two trips to Germany.
Sandra loved her crafts, making grapevine wreaths and flower arrangements. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and cake decorating too. She prepared the “Wednesday night supper” at Hapeville Methodist Church where they were members for over 30 years.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Jim Richards; brother, Jesse Stevens (Shell) of Jacksonville, FL; four children, Michelle Wells (Charles), Stevanie Suttles (Bill), Michael Richards (Marlina), and Steven Richards (Lucila) all of the Atlanta, GA area; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
