He is survived by his wife of almost 34 years, Susan; daughters, Megan and Ashlyn; sons-in-law, Greg and Cullen; grandchildren, Ryen, Connor, Declan, and Harlow; brothers, Richard Jr., Jeffrey and Robert; father, Richard, Sr.
Steve graduated from Potomac High School in Dumfries, VA in 1984. He joined the United States Coast Guard in 1985 and served until 1990. He specialized in telecommunications in the Coast Guard and worked for various tech companies after discharge. In 2000, he got in on the ground floor with XM Satellite Radio, where he made many meaningful friendships and remained employed until his earthly departure.
He was an avid sport fan, following various teams such as the Washington Redskins, Capitals, Nationals, and The Ohio State University Buckeyes. He was fortunate enough to see all of his teams win national championships in his lifetime.
Over the years, he played percussion in various bands, as well as in his church praise bands. His most recent band, The Muckers, became like a second family.
Steve was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He worked hard up until the end to provide for his family. If he wasn't working or playing a gig, you could find him playing with his beloved grandkids. He loved splashing them in the pool and burying them in the sand during our annual family beach trips. He was a family man through and through. While work and gigs kept him busy, he never failed to be present for the things that mattered. He is loved beyond measure by his family, and we know how much he loved us all.
He was a man of strong faith. He was very active in his church and made it a point, everywhere he went, to lead by example. He showed unconditional love, generosity, and kindness to all who crossed his path. He was truly a light in what can be a very dark world. While we mourn this great loss, we are at peace knowing he is home with his Lord and Savior.
